Things that are good

  1. Parting ways with my too-big stash of yarn.  I'm feeling the guilt lately, and also a bit ridiculous for having so much yarn that might take me years to get to!  So far I've sent off 12 packages of yarn - woot!
  2. Exercising.  I'm on a 12 week plan and just started week 4 today.  It is basically circuit training with added bursts of cardio, taken from the book Winning by Losing.  It burns lots of calories and I even like doing it!  (For the most part anyway)
  3. Finding $250 that I somehow stashed away and forgot about - that was a very nice surprise!
  4. Having survived a day and a half with what basically amounts to having two sets of twins to look after.  I made it through though, just barely!  Really, it was a lot of fun and a lot more excitement than I am used to.
  5. Knowing that there are only a few more weeks of preschool left for The Baby this year.  It's good for her and good for me, but it will be nice to have a few less responsibilities to worry about.

Enjoy your day!

Proof that I still knit

I know I talk about knitting, but I never show it right?  So who really knows if I'm telling the truth?  Well today I give you proof!  This is the back half of the Halter Dress for The Baby.  The pattern is from the book BarefooImg_1137t KnitsImg_1136, which is all about using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.  I'm using some Classic Elite Flash Print that I got a very long time ago.  It should be really cute when it's finally done.  I'm about halfway done with the front half, so it should be soon.

The other picture is my Seamless Hybrid sweater, or what looks like just a plain old big, dark sweater.  I need a neckband, underarm sleeve stitches woven, and ends woven in, and of course blocking.  I'm using the same needle for the Halter Dress and I've decided to finish that one first.

That's all I've got, I don't know how much knitting time I'll actually get this weekend though.  I'm heading off to my sister's house bright and early tomorrow so that she and her hubby can go off for an nice and quiet overnight stay at a B&B.  So me + The Baby + The Baby's cousin of the same age + 2 twin 1 year olds = me, possibly going absolutely crazy.  Just kidding sis!  I'm quite looking forward to it and I hope they have a wonderful time to themselves :)  See you next week!

More De-stashing/selling

So a while back I dyed up a ton of roving.  I'll admit the original plan was to try and set up a shop, but I don't know if I'm really up for that or not.  But I am offering for sale all of the stuff that I dyed up.  You can see it in my flickr set, please click on the pictures for descriptions and prices.  If you are at all interested in anything you see, please email me at wabbit64 at comcast.net.  You might see my superwash rovings there as well, but I haven't priced those as of yet.  But I will if you want some of it!

In other stuff, I have been knitting, I just have to get the camera out and take some pictures.  In the works is a super cute halter dress for The Baby that is half done.  I'm also hoping to finish the Seamless Hybrid sweater soon - woot!

As always thanks for looking!

Destashing

In an effort to downsize my stash once again, I am having a destash sale.  I'm working on getting prices added to everything, but if you are interested in anything, please let me know!  If you are on Ravelry you can see it here.  If you aren't on Ravelry you can see it on flickr.

Thanks for looking!

Thank goodness for Ravelry

I'm sure this is like the millionth post about how awesome Ravelry is, well it's true and here is one more story to prove it.  I was going to finish up the Seamless Hybrid sweater yesterday, but apparently I don't have enough yarn!  I thought for sure I would have enough, 10 skeins - you'd think it would be!  I was working along, finishing the yoke yesterday and I was nearing the end of the skein I was using thinking I had one more still left.  When I went to look for it, it was nowhere to be found - argh!!  Well of course I went to Ravelry to see if anyone had any, being that the yarn is discontinued and all...lucky for me the user named slowpoke had just one ball in the color and dyelot I needed.  A quick message and a paypal sent and hopefully the yarn should be here next week.  Yay!!  I'm still disappointed that I won't have the sweater done this weekend, but that's the way it goes for me I guess.  Anyway, thank goodness for Ravelry!

Instead of working on the sweater, I've been dabbling in some crochet.  I whipped up the One Skein Scarf from The Happy Hooker in some Rowan Tapestry, with no picture yet because I really don't know how to weave in ends on crochet.  I'm going to study the book today to try and figure it out rather than just winging it like I have done in the past.  That's about it for now, enjoy the weekend :)

Vegas for the second time

Vegas was really fun.  I didn't win money this time, but I did have some exciting moments, like the laImg_1062Img_1101 st few hours before we had to leave and I had 380 credits on a dollar machine that I had only put in $20 - woot!  We did more than gamble though.  We had dinner at a couple of amazing places.  I'm now of the opinion that if you are ever there, you MUST go to the Firefly.  They are a tapas place that has an extremely good red sangria, yum!  We tried a few really great tapas, like stuffed dates and filet mignon sliders, all were excellent.  A now favorite and must for us is also Mesa Grill.  I love Bobby Flay and he really comes through with his restaurant here.  I had the pork tenderloin with pecan butter and a sweet potato tamale this time, to die for.  It's really fun for me to go to a nice place and experiment and Img_1067_2 not care about the price really, but I can only do it oh, once a year?!  Anyway,Img_1102 they were both great and I enjoyed them immensly.

We also discovered Red Rock this time around.  We went early on Saturday morning and spent half of the day there.  We left with major sunburns, but we still had a great time there too.  I felt good about getting 3 hours worth of hiking in, especially after the drink I had had the night before.  This place was absolutely beautiful, and I wish we Img_1079 could have spent more time there, or been more in shape to do more hiking!

I have been knitting again, since I'm a little under the weather I decided I should at least get back to knitting.  I'm working on my saddle shoulder sweater, on which I changed my mind and I'm now making it a seamless hybrid.  I'm working on one saddle right now and I hope to be done with the whole sweater soon.  I'm itching to finish it so that I can not feel guilty about starting another top!

That's all I've got for now, hopefully my next post will be about a finished sweater :)

I'll be back

Since I'm no good at blogging right now, due to too much stuff being on my mind and no time for knitting, I'll just 'officially' take a break.  I hope when I come back next week I'll still have some readers left!  We are taking an unplanned trip to Las Vegas once again this weekend, coming back on Sunday night.  Should be fun!  My favorite political comic will not be there, but we will be going to see Lewis Black!!  He's a bit crazier than Bill, but The Boyfriend likes him and it should be a pretty good show.  We are also getting a free room from our players card points, how can you beat that?!  Anyway, see you next week!

Works in progress and yarn pRon

Img_1050I thought I'd share my WIPs, since I really don't have much going on in my fiber life lately. Img_1053 I've mostly been working on the Lace Ribbon Scarf.  I think I've done 7 repeats, and with that you'd think I could have the pattern memorized by now but not so.  It is fun to knit, easy and just what one needs when they can't concentrate too much but want to knit some lace.

Img_1052 I also finished a sock, made from a merino/tencel blend that I got from Scout's Swag.  I likeImg_1054 it a lot.  It should be a nice sturdy fabric and I hope they will last a long time.  I did a basic toe-up, but this time I just did a short row heel.  It turned out okay, but not great.  I think I like using Cat Bordhi's methods instead.

I also went shopping and couldn't help myself so I bought some yarn.  I picked up some Manos silk blend and this Kathmandu DK.  They are both beautiful, but I can't decide what to make with them!  I guess it's time to go searching on Ravelry, eh?

Alive. Not well. With socks.

I know I have been a bad blogger, but not without excuses!  I am once again sick.  Why does this happen to me?  I have been eating healthy (mostly), taking my vitamins, exercising...why must I be sick, again?!  So I'm just trying to rest up a little to hopefully be better soon.  Knitting has been minimal here, and spinning is literally nonexistent.  I haven't even been reading.  Ugh.
Img_1048
Before I got sick, I did manage to finish up two pairs of socks. The blue ones are from my own handspun, the pattern is Philosopher's House Socks from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways book. The second is just a plain old stockinette pair, knit toe up using Cat's master Riverbed pattern.  The yarn is some OnLine that turned out pretty cool.  They do look a little loose around the instep but I swear they fit.

Img_1049_2I'm still working on the Lace Ribbon Scarf,  and another pair of socks using some Merino/tencel from Scout's Swag.  They will also be pretty cool.

In other news, I've been doing overall pretty well with my weight loss.  I gave an update on my other blog, if you want to go look at all I did, but in short I lost 4 pounds in March!  It isn't as much as I wanted but that is still pretty good and I'll take it!  I'm feeling a lot better about myself now that I'm exercising regularly and eating pretty well.  Anyway, that's all I've got for today.  I'm going to attempt to blog more than once this week, even though my brain isn't working all that well.  So you'll just have to suffer through it ;)  Have a great day, I hope you feel better than I do!
